The memorandum, which was signed by the minister of Environment, Fátima
Jardim, and the chairman of the British NGO "Stop Ivory" Alexander Rhodes,
sets up a partnership in the fight against the illegal trade of ivory,
which has become an international issue.

According Fátima Jardim, this memo is important to curb the ivory
trafficking and other situations involving money laundering.

The minister said that this is a privileged partnership, both at the
sectorial field, as well as global, as it is sought to end poaching in
Angola and the illegal trade of ivory.

To Alexander Rhodes, this matter does not only belong to Africa, it entered
the agenda of the international police and even countries like the United
States are struggling with it.

Alexander Rhodes said Angola has been one of the target countries in this
aspect, taking into account its biodiversity and ecosystem.

The partnership for the memo resulted during the participation of Angola at
the London Conference on the Illicit Trade of Wildlife, created by the
British government.
