Man arrested with ivory granted bail

A man arrested for allegedly being in possession of two elephant tusks at
the Buffalo checkpoint on Friday evening, was granted bail on Monday.

The accused, Lihako Sishwama (31), appeared before magistrate Selma Shiiga
in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Monday during his first court appearance.

He was granted bail of N$10 000.

Sishwama was arrested during a special operation in the Mukwe constituency,
and faces a charge of dealing and being in possession of controlled
wildlife products.

Prosecutor Michael Munika represented the state.

The case was postponed to 14 March 2023 for further police investigations.
