The Kenya Wildlife Veterinary and Capture team translocated an adult
elephant bull that had taken refuge in a village in Tana River County.

The exercise was led by Dr Dominic Mijele, Dr Mukami Ruoro and capture
rangers who assembled at Kitere Village Minhaj secondary school on February
17, 2024.

The elephant was captured and translocated to Tsavo National Park on
February 18, 2024.

The elephant had become an attraction sight while feeding in the forest
near the village and taking comfort when the villagers tilled their lands.

The elephant left the forest to quench thirst in Minhaj school in the
evening, harming no one and keeping to his solitude nature.

The translocation exercise was done with the assistance of Mara elephant
project Marc Goss who had collared the elephant and assisted with the
chopper.
