Mysuru: Two wild elephants entered Kollegal town in Chamarajanagar district
in the early hours of Friday, leading to panic among locals.
However, the foresters successfully drove them back to the forest after
launching an operation.
The movement of the two jumbos walking around near a petrol bunk, close to
Dr Rajkumar Circle, was captured on CCTV installed at the bunk in Kollegal
town. The bunk staff, who spotted the elephants around 1.30am, ran for
safety.
Foresters said the jumbos strayed out of Sattegala forest, which is located
close to the town, and roamed around on the streets, including Devanga
Street, Masjid Road, and near the police station.
Chief conservator of forests (Chamarajanagar circle) T Heeralal told TOI
that wild jumbos that strayed out of the forest nearby were driven back
successfully to the woods.
