Farmer trampled to death by wild elephant in TN (Erode) V Senthil Kumaran, Times of India March 12, 2024 A wild elephant trampled a farmer to death in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in Erode district of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as K Makkaiya, 65, of Thiginarai. Makkaiya had cultivated bananas and maize on his four acres of land. He used to guard the standing crops at night against wild animals. A wild elephant, which came out of the STR around 3am on Tuesday, attacked Makkaiya.
