Elephant herd kills man in Uukwaluudhi Conservancy

A 48-year-old resident of Oshitumbe B Village, in Uukwaluudhi Conservancy,
was killed by elephants during the night of 25 August, Ministry of
Environment, Forestry and Tourism, spokesperson Romeo Muyunda said.
The deceased identified as Efraim Shivute was discovered earlier this
morning by community members.
According to Muyunda, approximately 20 elephants were observed in the area,
officials have since been dispatched, and investigations are ongoing.
“We extend our sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family. We also
want to caution generally that communities in wildlife areas must refrain
from walking in the bushes at night,” he concluded.
