The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Guwahati, has seized
elephant tusks in Khatira, Bamunigaon, and handed them over to the Range
Forest Officer of Bamunigaon Range for further investigation. According to
officials, the seized tusks weigh approximately 14 kg.

Speaking to the media, the Range Forest Officer confirmed that two
individuals have been arrested in connection with the illegal trade. The
accused have been identified as Suren Rabha (52), a resident of Borbakra,
Chhaygaon, and Sankar Boro (48), from Chakrapani, Boko, both under Kamrup
district, Assam.

Authorities revealed that the duo was attempting to sell the tusks
illegally. "We have initiated legal proceedings against them, and further
investigation will determine the full extent of their involvement," said
the forest officer.

The arrested individuals have been booked under multiple sections of the
Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, including Sections 39(10, 5), 40(1, 2,
2B), 44, 48A, and 49, all of which are punishable under Section 51 of the
Act.
