Wild Tusker Found Dead at Nagarahole (State of Karnataka, India)

HANAGOD: An injured wild tusker, aged between 35 and 40 years was found
dead at Anechowkur Range of Nagarahole Reserve Forest on May 2. The carcass
was found in the lake adjacent to the field of one Anantharamu at Channangi
Beat.
It is suspected that the tusker may have died due to fight with other
elephant. The dead tusker was pulled out of the lake with the help of tamed
elephants Abhimanyu and Mahendra.
Veterinarian Dr. Mujeeb conducted the post-mortem in the presence of
Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Satish, Deputy Conservator of
Forests (DCF) Channaveera Ganigera and other officials. The carcass was
cremated later.
