Sometimes wild animals roaming around in a populated area, unsupervised,
can become a problem for the residents. Such animals pose a risk to people,
as they may attack others out of fear of being lost. In the Hassan city of
Karnataka, a wild elephant was captured by the forest officials, found
roaming in the region of Malnad.

As per an exclusive report by News18, the giant elephant called Seege, was
found roaming alone in the regions of Malnad and Semi-Malnad. The animal
was finally caught by the department officials with the help of other
elephants, Local18 reported.

The operation was carried out in the second week of January, earlier this
year. The forest department was determined to rescue the elephant, which
got lost from the nearby dense forest. The forest department team, led by
Abhimanyu, took the help of eight other elephants for the capture mission.
These elephants were named Harsha, Prashanth, Karnataka Bheema, Mahendra,
Dhananjaya and Ashwathama, along with a few others. Under Abhimanyu’s
leadership, these elephants were used to capture Seege, the lost elephant.

The forest department personnel like the rapid response team (RRT) were
able to track the wild elephant after following it. After resuming the
operations one Sunday afternoon, the elephant was given anaesthesia
injections at around 12:20 am. It was found in the area of Nidigere forest
range, in Sakleshpur taluk. The wild elephant fell unconscious after thirty
minutes of being captured with the anaesthesia. The rest was handled by the
forest department. Reportedly, the elephant ran for kilometres before its
capture.

Seege was then transferred to the Dubare Sakane camp in Kushalnagar taluk,
Kodagu district, through a lorry, where they were to oversee its taming.
Personnel from the forest department itself were given the responsibility
to tame the wild animal.
