At least three more more months will be needed for tusker Agbo's front left
leg to fully heal, Chandana Jayasinghe, Veterinarian in charge of
Anuradhapura Wildlife Zone said.
The Agbo elephant, who has been receiving treatment for about three months,
suffered severe damage to his front left leg due to the firing of a trap
gun. On Saturday a Scan and X-ray tests were performed and treated.
Agbo elephant is currently roaming in Anuradhapura, Tirappanae -
Vannammaduwa Lake Reserve where the animal was sterilized and treated.
Anuradhapura Zonal Wildlife Office Veterinarian Chandana Jayasinghe said
that the elephant's injuries are currently healing and it will take another
three months to fully recover.
Veterinarian Jayasinghe said that, in addition to the Scan and X-ray tests,
blood samples were taken from the elephant for future tests.
