Jamshedpur: Farmers in Sonakada village of Manushmudia Panchayat,
Baharagora block, suffered heavy losses after a wild elephant trampled
their standing paddy crop late last night. Several farmers, including
Chinmay Nayak, Dharmanand Nayak and Shambhu Nath Murmu, were affected.

“The elephant entered our fields at night and destroyed a significant
portion of our crops,” said Kalpana Nayak, an affected farmer. “We were
already struggling with financial issues and now this loss has put our
livelihood in danger.”

The incident has created panic among villagers, who fear repeated attacks.
They have urged the Forest Department and District Administration to
provide immediate compensation.

“Farmers should not suffer due to wildlife disturbances. The government
must take steps to protect our crops and provide financial assistance,”
said Jagdish Nayak, another farmer.

Officials have assured the affected farmers that their losses will be
assessed and appropriate compensation will be provided.
