One killed, three injured after car slams into elephant (Kluang, Malaysia)

A man was killed while three others were injured when the car they were
travelling in skidded and slammed into an elephant at Jalan Pinang, heading
to Bukit Tongkat, here, last night.

According to Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Abd Rahim
Razali, the victim was identified as Ismail Daud, 37, while the identities
of the others have not been ascertained.

He said the elephant was safe, reported witnesses at the scene.

"The Johor State Operations Centre received a road accident emergency call
at 9.59pm and a fire tender machine from the Renggam Fire and Rescue
Station was dispatched to the scene of the accident.

"Upon the arrival of the Operations Rescue Team at the scene, it was found
that there was a road accident involving a Honda City car and three victims
were extricated from the vehicle by members of the public.

"They were handed over to a Health Ministry ambulance before the fire and
rescue team arrived at the location.

"The rescue team acted to remove a victim in the driver's seat and was
confirmed dead at the scene," he said.

He said the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action.
