Wild elephants coming out from Manas National Park in search of food caused
significant destruction in Aujarguri, Bijni, on Saturday, June 15 night,
affecting tremendously two agricultural families.

The elephants demolished the PMAY residence of Bimal Musahari, a local
resident, and caused extensive damages to the fields and agricultural
products. They destroyed nearly 500 kgs of paddy, seven areca nut trees,
and four bighas of jackfruit.

In another part of the village, Shaon Brahma faced losses with the
destruction of 30 betel nut trees by the elephants. The incident highlights
the ongoing human-wildlife conflict in the region.

Earlier, one person lost his life in a wild elephant attack in Jagiroad,
Assam. The incident occurred at South Dharamtul of Jagiroad under the
Morigaon district of Assam.

The victim has been identified as Teron from Mohkhali village. According to
villagers, the wild elephant attacked Teron on the verandah of his house,
focusing on the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters in these areas.
