Sullia: Wild elephant spotted at Muroor

A wild elephant was spotted at the Muroor check post near Mandekolu village
on the Karnataka-Kerala border on Thursday night.

The check post was opened at Muroor in preparation for the upcoming Lok
Sabha elections. The elephant appeared within a stone's throw of the check
post on the road. It is reported that the pachyderm left for the forest
after crossing the road. Officials and staff at the check post observed the
lone tusker and promptly informed the matter to the forest department.

Officials from the Karnataka and Kerala forest departments rushed to the
spot. Personnel manning the check post, as well as vehicle riders and
drivers, are in a state of panic due to the sighting of the wild tusker.
