The dead body of an elephant calf was found in the Kekkanahalli forest, located within the Bandipur sanctuary of Gundlupet taluk. It is suspected that the one-year-old male elephant calf may have died two days ago after supposedly being separated from its mother and failing to procure sustenance in a timely manner. The exact cause of death, however, remains unknown. Forest guards who made the discovery informed their superiors. The Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Naveen Kumar-led team conducted an immediate investigation. Accompanied by Veterinary Officer Dr. Mohan Kumar, the team performed a postmortem examination of the elephant’s remains. According to Dr. Mohan Kumar, samples of the elephant’s organs and viscera have been dispatched to the Forensic Laboratory for further analysis.
