Hit by bus, elephant dies on Haldwani road (Dehradun) Sonali Mishra, Times of India October 2, 2024 An elephant died after it was hit by a Haryana Roadways bus near the forest department barrier, about 200 m ahead of Bel Baba temple, in Haldwani on Wednesday. Officials said a herd of elephants was crossing the road when the accident took place. A team of forest officials and vets from Terai central forest department rushed to the spot to save the injured elephant, but it succumbed to injuries. DFO of Terai, UC Tiwari, said, "The forest department team, along with the medical team, shifted the elephant to the side of the road and started treatment but the animal could not be saved."
