The Karnataka Forest Department has decided to resume the combing operation
to capture the wild tusker that killed Arjuna after 10 days. Tamed
elephants that were brought to the Sakleshpur region were sent back. Forest
department officials were tagging radio collars to wild elephants in the
area.

“We will continue the operation to capture the wild tusker that killed
Arjuna after 10 days. Tamed elephants that were brought here for the
operations are sent back. Mahouts and other personnel are disturbed because
of the recent incident. We are tagging radio collars to nine elephants in
the area. Five elephants are already tagged with radio collars,”
Ravishankar R, Deputy Conservator of Forests told the media.

Forest Department to Investigate Arjuna’s Death
The Deputy Conservator of Forests further said that the department will
investigate allegations that Arjuna suffered a bullet injury to his leg
before he was attacked by the wild tusker on Monday. Arjuna’s Mohout and
other personnel involved in the wild elephant capturing operation have
alleged that Arjuna suffered a bullet injury to his leg during the
operation.

“The veterinary doctor checked Arjuna’s body before he was laid to rest on
Tuesday and there were no bullet injuries. We conduct an inquiry regarding
the allegations,” Ravishakar told the media.

Video of Wild Elephant that Killed Arjuna Goes Viral
A video of a wild elephant which is said to have attacked Dasara elephant
Arjuna has gone viral on social media. The video was uploaded by an account
named ‘mudigere adventures’ and got nearly a million views and over 76k
likes.

Several Instagram users commented on the post saying the wild tusker would
be captured using deceased elephant Arjuna’s friend Abhimanyu, who is also
part of Mysuru Dasara procession elephants.
