Wild elephant kills man, 60, in Garhwa forest The Times of India November 24, 2024 A 62-year-old man was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Sinjo forest under Bhandaria police station, Garhwa district, officials said on Sunday. Ganesh Singh from Sinjo village was grazing cattle with another villager about 1km from the village on Saturday morning when the incident occurred. While his companion, Kismat Singh, managed to escape unharmed, Ganesh Singh was killed on the spot in the elephant attack. Following alerts from villagers, police and forest department officials reached the scene and sent the body to Garhwa Sadar Hospital for postmortem. DFO Ebin Benny Abraham of Garhwa south division announced that an immediate assistance of Rs 50,000 was provided to the victim's family.
