In an incident that occurred in the Bangarapet Kamasamudram police station
area of Kolar, a farmer lost his life after being attacked by an elephant
early on Sunday morning.
The deceased, identified as Narayanappa (45) from Polenahalli, Kolar
district, was reportedly walking towards Kamasamudram village to fetch
vegetables when he was attacked by an elephant along the way.
This incident marks the second fatal elephant attack in a week, following
the death of a man from Tamil Nadu who was trampled to death by an elephant
near a temple.
Expressing their outrage against the forest officials for their alleged
failure to control the forest and prevent such attacks, villagers gathered
at the scene to protest. They voiced their concerns about the recurring
incidents of deaths due to elephant attacks in the area.
The protestors have vowed to continue their protest until the Deputy
Commissioner arrives at the scene. Forest officer Srilakshmi has visited
the site to assess the situation.
